ALDE boiler
The ALDE boiler in your Caravan/Motorhome is a Combination boiler with an internal water tank of varying capacity.
These boilers use pipes and radiators to heat the vehicle, and are a 'wet' central heating system. Which operates in a fundamentally different way to the blown air Combi boilers and traditional seperate Truma Ultrastore/Ultraheat, or Carver systems found in older vehicles.

One of the most important tasks during colder weather is the draining of their water from the boilers water heater. it is something we ignore at our peril! with the average combi boiler approaching £1500.

Propane or Butane
LPG has two distinct variations propane and butane. Propane gas in the red bottle runs at 30 mbr+ whereas butane is 28 mbr. In the UK winter camping can be problematic with butane as it's freezing point is around 2 degrees+ whereas propane will fall to minus 18 degrees. The modern combination boilers in leisure vehicles should be run on propane particularly in colder periods to function properly.

From new the vast majority of Alde systems are filled with Blue Antifreeze which has a 2 year life, thereafter the corrosion properties cannot protect the boiler and system.
To prevent major damage to the boiler and costly repairs the system must be drained, flushed and refilled with new antifreeze mixture.
The replacement fluid needs to be RED 5 year approved antifreeze
The system must be drained and refilled with the Alde equipment to prevent permanent Airlocks leading to boiler overheats, and radiators becoming cool etc.
